Carla Jackson became the Cobb County Tax Commissioner in January 2014. She joined the Tax Commissioner's Office in July 2003 as the Business Services Manager and was appointed Chief Deputy in April 2012.

Immediately prior to joining the Tax Commissioner’s Office, Carla was a technology consultant. She has also worked in the Enterprise Applications group at Turner Broadcasting System, and in the Accounting and Financial Systems departments at The Home Depot. She began her professional career as an auditor with Broniec and Associates.

Carla earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Accounting and Business Management from North Carolina State University. She holds a certificate in Information Technology Management from Georgia Tech and is a licensed CPA. She is actively involved in the Tax Commissioner's Technology Council and in the Georgia Association of Tax Officials professional organizations. Carla's community involvement includes Honorary Commanders, Cobb Executive Women, Leadership Cobb and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.

Carla and her husband, Eddie, have lived in Cobb County since 1986; and they have 3 children.

 

Heather Walker became the Deputy Tax Commissioner in June of 2018. With a focus on excellent customer service and streamlining the internal processes of the Tax Commissioner's Office, her goal us to improve taxpayer's experiences within our offices.

Heather began her career with the Cobb County Tax Commissioner's Office in 2007 as a frontline operator in the Motor Vehicle Division. Being a dedicated and conscientious team member, she held other positions including Tax Specialist II and III. She became a Branch Manager in 2015, was selected as a member of the Senior Tax Management Team in 2016 and now with the retirement of Michele McDuffie who served as as Chief Deputy for four years, Mrs. Walker has been appointed as Chief Deputy.

Heather holds a Master's in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Management from Shorter University. Heather is a member of the Sigma Beta Delta honor society, A 2017 graduate of the University of Georgia's Carl Vinson Institute of Government EXCEL program, a Certified Business Golfer with Golf Women Mean Business (GWMB), a strong advocate for Shriners Hospitals for Childern and avid supporter of MUST Ministries. Her most influential words of wisdom are from Author, Maya Angelou -- "Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better."
